Consulting Lessons Learned 1
Keeping track of your network As a consultant, you will get to know new people continuously – whether it’s colleagues or clients, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone.
When I scroll through the address book in my phone, there are countless entries where I am not able to tell you who that is and what he or she is about. However, lately I apply a simple solution for that issue: Whenever I receive the phone number of a new colleague or client, I will also add a few descriptive lines in the contact notes. Start with what that person is doing and how you got to know him or her.
For everyone I don’t meet on a regular basis, I will also update these notes after every meeting with the latest topics we talked about or things that stood out and might be a good cliffhanger for the next time I meet this person.
